Jacqui Ison - Choreographer

Choreographer

Jacqui Ison, a seasoned choreographer with over twenty-five years of experience, has created an impressive repertoire of both short and full-length dance pieces. Her diverse creations span the realms of contemporary, classical, cultural, musical and theatrical dance. These performances have significantly enriched educational programs, cross cultural exchanges and charitable events.

Her passion for choreography and improvisation was ignited whilst studying Graham, Limón and Cunningham techniques at Middlesex University with artistic inspiration drawn from both postpositivist philosophy and post-modern art, seamlessly fusing her work with intellectual curiosity and emotional depth which was reflected in her debut work, Syncopated Colours (1999, Grove Theatre, North London), followed by Chromatic Fantasy and Filiae Maestae Jerusalem (2000, Rhodes Centre, Bishops Stortford).

Looking to diversify her work Jacqui Ison sought inspiration from various choreographers and artists in the United States which resulted in a fresh new approach. She explored innovative choreographic techniques which not only increased its appeal but also resulted in remarkable success and recognition. This transition allowed Jacqui Ison to expand and develop her choreographic styles and repertoire.
